From trauma surgeons, emergency physicians, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons and nurses to operating room staff, radiology technicians, transporters, residents, medical students and others, a team of experienced professionals is involved in caring for every patient we serve. Being the only Level 1 trauma center in West Michigan, we also accept transfers if patients need a higher level of care than other facilities in the region can provide.
As a part of the Spectrum Health system, the Spectrum Health Trauma Center connects patients to a full continuum of care services that includes 14 hospitals, 150 ambulatory sites, 31,000 talented professionals and 4,600 medical experts.
We take a team approach with other specialties like home care, rehabilitation and behavioral health to ensure a comprehensive plan of care for all patients.
As the epicenter of trauma programs across West Michigan, more than 1,000 patients are transferred annually to our Level 1 trauma center for evaluation and treatment. Additionally, many other patients choose to have their follow-up care with our team in our multidisciplinary trauma clinic when it is closer to home.
After discharge, patients may be seen at our multidisciplinary trauma clinic, a comprehensive clinic that collaborates between specialties to better serve patients on their journey of restoring health and function. Our collaborative approach allows for multiple appointments with different trauma specialty providers in one visit. During the visit, patients will meet highly skilled professionals who work together to provide the best possible care for orthopedic trauma, acute care surgery, burn, physical medicine and rehabilitation.
We know our patients have many things to worry about, so we make sure coordination of care isn’t one of them.
