Pediatric dialysis

We have a highly-trained pediatric dialysis team, offering both in-center hemodialysis and home peritoneal dialysis. Key members of the interdisciplinary team include:

Our in-center hemodialysis unit has four pediatric friendly dialysis stations supplied with ultra-pure water. Children can dialyze in comfortably in their own dialysis chair, or age appropriate seating or bed. The child’s family is welcome in the dialysis unit as long as they are healthy. During treatment, our child life staff, along with clinical staff, provide educational games, crafts, tablets, toys, and work on school work. 

Our home peritoneal dialysis program is designed to educate the child’s caregiver to preform peritoneal dialysis at home. Most patients will be on continuously cycling peritoneal dialysis (CCPD) although we do offer continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) for our teenage population if appropriate.
