The pediatric ear, nose and throat (otolaryngology) team at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital provides diagnosis and treatment of disorders and diseases of the hearing and balance system for infants, children and adolescents. This includes ear infections, hearing loss, sinusitis, nasal obstruction, tonsil and adenoid disease, breathing issues, swallowing issues, speech disorders and head and neck tumors.
We offer many different therapies and procedures, including airway reconstruction, tracheotomy, ear tube insertion, sinus surgery and bone conduction implants. We also see all tumors of the head and neck, looking at both medical and surgical options.
Expert team members include nurses and support staff members dedicated to pediatric care, along with surgeons, audiologists and speech therapists. We also work closely with other pediatric sub-specialties and departments at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital to provide coordinated, comprehensive and kid-friendly care.
Our experienced pediatric doctors and specialists are ready to serve you and your family.
In addition, the department’s otology/neurology program treats children and teens with conductive and sensori-neural hearing losses and balance and facial nerve disorders.
The cochlear implant program at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital works with children who have severe to profound hearing loss. Cochlear implant services utilize the skills of a surgeon, audiologist and speech therapist. Implants are programmed and maintained to adjust to the specific needs of each patient.
The entire department is committed to community health and works closely with the schools for the hearing impaired in West Michigan.
