Spectrum Health offers both acute and subacute inpatient rehabilitation for patients recovering from a traumatic brain injury. Our interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams are dedicated to providing expert and coordinated care to help you return to the highest possible level of independence, functioning and mobility.
Our medical and rehabilitation team recognizes and responds to complications that may be associated with brain injury. Our treatment interventions are designed to maximize your abilities with movement, speaking, and many routine tasks such as walking, bathing and eating independently. Your care may include neuropsychology, physical, occupational and speech therapy, recreational therapy, music therapy, clinical nutrition, case management and social work.
Following an inpatient stay for a traumatic brain injury, you may advance to home care and/or outpatient rehabilitation. Through Spectrum Health At Home, therapist specializing in neuro rehabilitation will come to your home and assess the home environment for safety which may involve minor modifications. Our therapists will continue to develop the skills learned in inpatient rehabilitation and help you improve your comfort, safety and function in the home environment.
After home care or your inpatient stay, our outpatient rehabilitation services are designed to help you continue to progress in your recovery. You and your therapists will work together to improve your strength, coordination, balance, endurance, attention, problem-solving, and other functional skills.
Like every brain injury, recovery is different for each individual. The road to recovery is personalized and varies in length and the type of therapy needed.
In addition to our inpatient, outpatient and home-based rehabilitation, we also have our Neuro Residential Care program which consists of six beautiful group homes for those needing long-term care after a brain injury. Offering a caring and supportive environment, our adult residential homes provide ongoing therapy and treatment while encouraging as much independence as possible.
