What excites you about your residency/fellowship at Corewell Health in West Michigan? I attended all four years of medical school in Grand Rapids, and after being away for five years of general surgery residency, I am very excited to return for surgical critical care fellowship. The faculty are outstanding. Additionally, there is an abundance of educational opportunities present due to the high volume and acuity seen at Corewell Health Grand Rapids Hospitals Butterworth Hospital. Lastly, the city of Grand Rapids is a great place to live and work. I am grateful for another year of training here.

What are your clinical interests? Within surgical critical care, I am most interested in thromboelastography and platelet mapping to guide blood product administration in hemorrhagic shock, as well resuscitation and treatment of septic shock. I also enjoy trauma and emergency general surgery.

Hobbies: Outside of the hospital, I enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, hunting, camping, snowshoeing and kayaking. I am an avid sports fan, including baseball and hockey. I also enjoy reading; my interests span from whodunit mysteries to fantasy fiction to 16th century European geopolitics.
